I've had to institute this policy after seeing people shamelessly and blatantly reproduce pages and pages of my own words on their sites without even bothering to ask me for permission, and frequently without even crediting original authorship. Sheesh. It boggles my mind that people would do this. Countless people seem to think that if it's on the internets, it's free for the taking. Well, it ain't, so please don't do it. It pisses me off. They call my lawyer "Vinnie The Claw", and for good reason.
